Maldives and Maharashtra discuss strengthening bilateral relations

The Governor of Maharashtra, C.P. Radhakrishnan, paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday as part of efforts to strengthen relations between the Maldives and Maharashtra, India.

During the meeting, Governor Radhakrishnan warmly welcomed President Muizzu and his delegation to Maharashtra, expressing his gratitude for their visit.

In return, President Muizzu thanked the Governor and the people of Mumbai for their warm reception and generous hospitality.

He highlighted the significance of the upcoming 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India, noting the Maldives’ valued and historic ties with its neighbor.

Governor Radhakrishnan acknowledged the close bilateral relationship between India and the Maldives, which spans across various sectors such as trade, tourism, and business.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening the links between the people of the Maldives and Maharashtra to further cooperation in these areas and beyond.

Later in the evening, President Dr. Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed attended an official dinner hosted by Governor Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.

Members of the presidential delegation and senior officials from the Government of Maharashtra were also present at the dinner, which took place as part of President Muizzu’s ongoing state visit to India.

President Dr. Muizzu is in Mumbai as part of his state visit to India from 6-10 october, which aims to enhance ties between the Maldives and India across multiple sectors.
