Izyan Nazim has set two new national records in men’s breaststroke events at the Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI) Shortcourse (25m) Agegroup Swimming Championships 2024 in Thailand.

His remarkable performances have rewritten the Maldivian swimming record books.

In the 100m breaststroke, Izyan completed the race in 01:12.85, surpassing the previous national record of 01:12.91 held by Hassan Ashraf since the 11th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in 2012.

Izyan further impressed in the 200m breaststroke event, where he clocked a time of 02:37.35, breaking another of Ashraf’s records, which had stood at 02:40.57 from the same 2012 championship.

These achievements mark a significant milestone in Izyan’s swimming career and contribute to the rising standards of Maldivian competitive swimming on the international stage.
