President Dr. Muizzu strengthen ties with Bangladesh on Education, Climate, and Blue Economy
On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, President His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives met with Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, to discuss enhancing cooperation in critical areas.
Their discussions focused on people-to-people exchange programs, climate change adaptation, and strengthening partnerships in the blue economy and maritime transportation sectors.
The blue economy refers to the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and job creation, while ensuring the preservation of the health of marine ecosystems.
Both leaders underscored the importance of this approach in fostering a balanced relationship between economic progress and environmental conservation.
President Dr. Muizzu also emphasized the need to expand educational collaboration, particularly through student exchange programs.
He advocated for more opportunities for Maldivian students, with a particular focus on medical internships in Bangladesh, where students could gain valuable hands-on experience in healthcare settings.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and advancing strategic cooperation on shared concerns.
