Maldives has once again solidified its position as a premier global tourism destination, winning 30 awards at the 2024 South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) at Aloft Kathmandu, in Nepal.

This includes 15 SATA Gold and 14 SATA Silver awards.

Maldives also reclaimed the title of Leading Beach Destination at the Visitors' Choice Awards, a title previously won in 2016, 2017, and 2023.

During the event, a panel discussion on “Regional Tourism in South Asia – Challenges and Connectivity” featured MMPRC CEO Ibrahim Shiuree, who highlighted the Maldives as an ideal nearby destination for South Asian tourists due to its pristine beaches, vibrant lagoons, and stunning underwater scenery.

First held in 2016, SATA honors key players in South Asia's hospitality and travel sectors.

Maldives' achievements at SATA 2024 have further cemented its status as the region's top destination, recognized for its high standards in tourism and hospitality.
