Gaamagu Café, located in the lower part of Henveiru Dhoohimerige on Sosan Road, has been engulfed in flames for the second time today, prompting an urgent response from security services.

The café, which is operated by foreigners, first caught fire earlier in the afternoon around 2:45 p.m.

After hours of battling the blaze, the fire was brought under control, though it was burned beyond use.

However, just as the situation seemed to stabilize, the building reignited, sending fire and rescue teams back into action.

Police confirmed the second fire in a message shared with the media, stating that the building had once again gone up in flames.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the earlier fire left 37 people in distress, including 22 locals and 15 foreigners.

It remains unclear whether the second fire has impacted more people.

As of now, the security services have cordoned off the area as firefighters work tirelessly to extinguish the flames.

The extent of the damage is still under assessment, and authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fires.

The earlier fire had already severely damaged the café and an adjacent building, raising concerns about the structure’s safety.

As officials continue to tackle this ongoing crisis, more details are expected to emerge about the events leading up to both fires.
