Fire at Gaamagu Café: Building burned beyond use

A fire broke out at Gaamagu Café, located in Henveiru district, on Thursday afternoon, leaving the building completely destroyed.

The fire started at approximately 2:45 PM at the café, situated on the lower part of Henveiru Dhoohimerige, at the corner of Sosan Road.

The café, operated by foreign nationals, quickly became engulfed in flames.

The fire spread uncontrollably to an adjacent building, according to report from Voice reporter on scene.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Services, along with teams from the Maldives Police Service (MPS), responded swiftly.

Firefighters began battling the blaze shortly after police received the report at 2:47 PM.

Despite their prompt efforts, the building was burned beyond use.

Two bystanders were affected by the fire and were rushed to the hospital.

One was a Maldivian woman, and the other a foreign man.

Their conditions remain unknown at this time and no further injuries have been reported so far.
