The plan to recover from the financial situation needs to be clarified to the public: President Nasheed
Former President Mohamed Nasheed has stated that the plan to overcome the current financial situation facing the Maldives needs to be clearly explained to the public.
President Nasheed made this statement in a post on X in response to Bank of Maldives (BML) suspending international transactions on debit cards linked to rufiyaa accounts and new credit cards issued by the bank.
President Nasheed said that at this time, all political leaders of the Maldives have a great responsibility.
He stated that it is necessary to clearly explain to the public how the country's financial situation has reached this point, what is likely to happen next, and the plans to overcome this situation.
BML has completely halted dollar transactions on rufiyaa cards starting today and reduced the limit on previously issued credit cards to $100.
