India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that the Maldives is a valuable friend of India and that both countries will work for the benefit of their people.
Modi said this while thanking President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for his post on X congratulating India on its 78th Independence Day.
In his post congratulating Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi on the occasion, President Dr. Muizzu said that the relationship between the Maldives and India is a long-standing one, and this relationship has paved the way for the development and progress of the Maldives and the entire region.
"Our enduring friendship, rooted in history, has evolved to foster prosperity and development in the Maldives and the region. "
President Muizzu said
President Dr. Muizzu also expressed confidence that this close relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened, benefiting both nations and facilitating the achievement of their shared goals.
In relation to this, Modi posted on X, thanking President Dr. Muizzu for sending Independence Day greetings to India. He stated that India considers the Maldives a valuable friend.
Additionally, Modi said that both India and the Maldives will continue to work for the benefit of their people.
India's Independence Day marks the day the country gained independence from British rule in August 1947.
