Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has initiated a motion today in Parliament to dismiss Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem. 

The motion, submitted to the Parliament’s Judiciary Committee, calls for an official investigation into Shameem’s conduct and suitability for office. 
MP Shahid’s letter to the committee highlights concerns that he believes warrant Shameem’s removal. 
The Judiciary Committee has now placed the motion on its agenda and approved a formal investigation into the proposed dismissal. 
This marks a significant move in the ongoing scrutiny of the Prosecutor General’s office.
