Maldivians living in the UK have been asked to register in the Maldivian High Commission in the country.

The commission said in a post on X that Maldivians living in the UK are asked to register with the High Commission through ([email protected]).

At the same time, the High Commission asked to notify them in case of an emergency.

The High Commission's request comes in the wake of riots in Southport, northwest Hartlepool of UK, due to three children being killed in stabbing attacks.

The Foreign Ministry of Maldives has also asked people living in Southport and its surrounding areas as well as the Maldivians travelling to the country to exercise caution.

The ministry has asked people to keep up to date with the situation, to prioritize their own safety,  to follow all instructions from the relevant authorities in the area and to contact the Maldivian High Commission.
