Two men have been arrested for allegedly damaging two police motorcycles in Noonu atoll Hembadhoo, in connection with a drug operation conducted by the Maldives police service.

The 1st of this month, a police officer’s motorcycle was damaged and another police officer’s motorcycle was set on fire  the following day.

The two men were arrested for allegedly threatening to damage police officers, their families and property as well as  damaging and setting fire on the motorcycle.

The two men arrested in connection with the case were Mohammed Irshad (33) , Hudhu thari/N.Hembadhoo and Ilyas Ibrahim (33) , Selvio/N.Hembadhoo.

The two were arrested on Sunday under a court order.

Regarding this case Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan said that those who are acting in such a mindset that such a "coward" act will not change the courage and determination of the police.
