President Dr.Muizzu announces that wide-body aircraft services will commence this November

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that an Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft will be brought to the Maldives and will begin its service in November of this year.

President Dr. Muizzu made this statement while speaking at the ceremony of Independence Day held last night.

In this regard, President Dr. Muizzu said that work has already begun to increase direct flights to many destinations from the Maldives.

He also highlighted  that direct flights to various regions of China have been arranged within the past 8 months.

President Dr. Muizzu stated that bringing a wide-body aircraft to the Maldives and arranging direct flights to long-haul destinations was one of the most important points included in his manifesto for the advancement of tourism.

"God willing, we will start the service of the first wide-body aircraft flight this November. As a result, we will exceed our target of 2 million tourists this year, even higher than our target during the high season. That is the goal."

In line with President Dr. Muizzu's presidential pledge, Island Aviation Services Limited signed an agreement yesterday with TrueNoord, a company that provides aircraft to airlines, to bring an Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft to the Maldives.

Regarding this, Maldivian stated that the introduction of the A330-200 to their flights will greatly increase the airline's operational capability, provide opportunities to fly to new destinations, and offer passengers an enhanced quality travel experience.

The Airbus includes three classes, with 18 seats in Business, 36 seats in Premium Economy, and 210 seats in Economy, totaling 264 seats.

The first flights of this aircraft are scheduled to begin to China.
