Thazkiya sets new national benchmarks in 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke

Amna Thazkiya Mirsaad has once again made waves in the swimming world by setting new national records in the women’s long course 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

Thazkiya achieved these milestones at the National and Junior National Long Course Swimming Championship in Sri Lanka.

The 13-year-old sensation clocked an impressive time of 01:05.03 in the 100m freestyle event, breaking her previous national record of 01:05.53, which she set during the preliminary heats of the same competition.

In addition, Thazkiya set a new national record in the 200m backstroke by completing the race in 02:51.26. This time surpasses the previous record of 02:53.55, established by Aishath Sausan in 2022 at the FINA World Swimming Championship.

Thazkiya's outstanding performances continue to raise the bar for Maldivian swimming, showcasing her incredible talent and determination.
