Aishath Ulya Shaiq has set a new national record in the women's short course 50m freestyle event.

Ulya achieved this feat at the University of Western Australia (UWA) West Coast Club Night No. 7 Meet, completing the race in an impressive 00:28.75.

This achievement marks yet another milestone for Ulya, who previously held the national record in this event.

She set the former record just last month at the Breakers Big Splash June 2024 meet in Australia, finishing with a time of 00:28.81.

She is also scheduled to compete in the women’s 50m freestyle event at the highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympics this August.

Ulya's consistent performance and ability to surpass her own records highlight her dedication and prowess in swimming, establishing her as a leading athlete in Maldivian sports.
