French national carrier Air France has resumed flights to the Maldives.

The first flight for the winter season, AF 268, touched down at Velana International Airport around 08:10 am on Tuesday.

The airline is set to operate flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris to Velana International Airport, the country's main airport. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), which operates the airport, has announced that Air France will operate three weekly flights to the Maldives.

The airline will operate a 787 Boeing Dreamliner with 276 passenger capacity aircraft.

Air France first started operations in the Maldives in 2017. Since then, the airline has been operating flights to the Maldives every winter.

France is one of the most important sources of markets with the seventh-highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
