A FlyDubai flight arriving in the Maldives from Dubai made an emergency landing at Velana International Airport (VIA) on Sunday evening following a reported technical issue.

According to available information, the aircraft remained airborne for an extended period before landing, reportedly to reduce its fuel load as a precautionary measure.

The flight was said to have experienced an engine-related problem, prompting emergency procedures as it approached Velana International Airport. Despite the technical issue, the aircraft landed safely.

The FlyDubai flight touched down at VIA at 5:28 p.m. on Sunday, around 30 minutes later than its scheduled arrival time.

Airport authorities were placed on alert ahead of the landing.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) personnel, along with Fire and Rescue teams, were reportedly on standby and fully prepared to respond as the aircraft arrived.

The aircraft ultimately completed the landing safely, with no immediate reports of injuries or further incidents involving passengers or crew.
