President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has denied allegations of halting projects initiated by the previous government upon assuming office, providing statistics to counter the misinformation.

Speaking at a gathering in the 'Hiyaa' flat area to garner support for government-backed candidates in the upcoming parliamentary elections on tuesday night, President Dr. Muizzu addressed false narratives suggesting project halts, asserting his responsibility for statements backed by evidence.

During my presidential campaign trips to various islands, I observed numerous halted projects initiated by the previous government

underscoring that many were stalled due to unpaid funds totaling MVR 9000 million.

Highlighting the government's efforts to resume stalled projects, President Dr. Muizzu provided detailed statistics:

- Water and sewerage: 27 halted projects resumed, totaling 74 underway.

- Construction of ports, land reclamation, and seawalls: 30 halted projects restarted, with a total of 90 ongoing.

- Airport construction: 7 stalled projects resumed.

- Road construction: 17 halted projects restarted, with 26 underway.

- Construction of stadiums and courts: 84 halted projects resumed, with 71 underway.

- Construction of mosques: 20 halted projects resumed, with a total of 42 underway.

- Education-related projects: 90 halted projects resumed, with 217 underway.

- Additional projects include solar power initiatives, electricity network upgrades, and waste management efforts.

President Dr. Muizzu emphasized the need to combat misinformation, urging public awareness and support for government candidates to ensure effective results. He mentioned a USD 75 million free-aid project signed with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), highlighting the government's ability to undertake projects without printing more money.
