Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed, who currently serves as the Secretary-General of the Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), was granted an audience with King Charles III of the United Kingdom at Buckingham Palace.

The meeting between Nasheed and King Charles III took place on Wednesday, with photos shared on X by Mohamed Nasheed and the Climate Vulnerable Forum capturing a cheerful moment as the King, who is undergoing cancer treatment, shook hands with Nasheed.

Buckingham Palace had announced in early February that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer and had begun treatment.

Despite his health condition, the Palace stated that the King would continue to fulfill his official duties, although public appearances would be limited during his treatment period.

As for Former President Mohamed Nasheed, following his appointment as Secretary-General of the CVF, he temporarily stepped back from his political engagements on December 12th last year.

He subsequently relocated to Ghana on January 30th to fulfill his duties but remains an active member of the Maldivian parliament.
