In a proactive response to the escalating cyber threats facing the Maldives, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially established the National Cyber Security Agency. 
This landmark decision, announced on Monday, underscores the government's commitment to fortifying the nation's digital defenses and safeguarding critical infrastructure against malicious cyber activities.

Operating under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, the newly formed agency assumes a pivotal role as the primary authority responsible for overseeing all matters related to cyber security within the island nation.

With cyber attacks on the rise and posing significant risks to both residents and state institutions, the establishment of this agency couldn't come at a more crucial time.

President Muizzu's directive, made possible under the powers vested in him by Article 116 of the Constitution of Maldives, empowers the agency to develop and enforce national cyber security standards and policies. 
This mandate extends to strengthening the cyber defense capabilities of government entities, ensuring they remain resilient in the face of evolving cyber threats.

All communication directed to the agency will be streamlined under the designated number 500, in accordance with the state's agency numbering system, facilitating efficient coordination and response to cyber incidents.
