President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and his wife, first lady Sajida Mohamed arrived in China this morning on a state visit.

The visit is at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The President and his wife were welcomed by senior Chinese government officials.

During the visit, the President is scheduled to hold official talks between Maldives and China and exchange important agreements on strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.

The agreement includes strengthening trade relations, social, economic and technological cooperation.

The President is also scheduled to attend the Invest Maldives Forum in Fuzhou, meet with some Chinese businessmen and discuss areas where social and economic ties between the two countries can be strengthened.

The President and his wife is accompanied by a high-level delegation of the Government of Maldives.

This is the first official visit of the President since taking office on November 17.
