If Muizzu takes oath under Nasheed's speakership, his cabinet will not receive approval from Parliament: MDP
MDP's parliamentary group issues a warning to President-elect Dr Muizzu. The Parliamentary group has stated that if Dr Mohamed Muizzu is sworn in under the speakership of Mohamed Nasheed the president-elect will not be considered a President by law and his cabinet will not be approved.
Speaking about the three-line whip issued by MDP to vote to pass a motion to remove Speaker Mohamed Nasheed from the post, MDP leader Mohamed Aslam said that he would not allow any attempt to sit in the chair without the president's confidence.
A second no-confidence motion was filed against nasheed with the signatures of 48 lawmakers and the notice sent to him by looking into the matter will expire tomorrow. According to parliamentary rules, the matter has to be taken up on the next official day after the expiry of the 14-day notice.
Party's parliamentary group leader Aslam MDP parliamentary group has said that if Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is sworn in at a court chaired by Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, president Muizzu will not be considered a President by the law and his cabinet will not be approved.

MDP has also accused Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla of planning not to allow the session to continue on the same day without attending Sunday's sitting, while the parliament may try to delay Nasheed's confidence motion further and resume the general body meeting on Monday.
Aslam also said that he would not allow it to happen in such a manner. Nasheed should not be allowed to postpone the matter by banning the rules of parliament as he wishes.
President-elect Dr Mohamed Nasheed did not proceed with the no-confidence motion. Aslam also said that if mohamed muizzu's swearing-in ceremony continues, the mdp parliamentary group will not declare president Muizzu as the president who has been sworn in in accordance with the law.
