Villa Foundation to Provide Annual Scholarships for Nursing Training
The Villa Foundation has made the decision to annually award scholarships to the Maldives Nursing Association in order to facilitate the training and education of nurses.
During the inauguration ceremony held at Villa House, the commencement of the scholarship program was announced. A total of three scholarships were awarded to the Maldives Nursing Association. It was further decided that three scholarships will be granted on an annual basis.
Each year, the scholarship program will select two female students and one male student to be awarded the scholarship.
The executive director of the Villa Foundation, Mohamed Hameed, personally presented this year's scholarship. The esteemed recipient of the scholarship was Mariyam Shifana, the Secretary General of the Nursing Association.
As part of this scholarship program, the Villa Foundation covers the expenses of the Diploma in Nursing program at Villa College, while the remaining responsibilities are entrusted to the Nursing Association.
While speaking on behalf of Villa foundation at this ceremony, Mohamed Hameed said that this scholarship was given in honor of the 75th anniversary of services by nurses in maldives.
Hameed emphasized the crucial role that nurses play in the healthcare sector of the Maldives, acknowledging that their invaluable services cannot be quantified. He further expressed concern over the insufficient number of trained nurses available.
Villa College has initiated the enrollment process for the upcoming May intake. The Nursing Association has advised prospective students interested in applying for the scholarship to submit their offer letter from the college to the association for further consideration.
