Maldives and Singapore sign three strategic agreements
In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation, the Maldives and Singapore signed three key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) today during an official ceremony held at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The signing was witnessed by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, as part of President Dr. Muizzu’s ongoing state visit to Singapore.
The first agreement, signed between the two governments, focuses on enhancing collaboration in capacity building, an initiative aimed at improving institutional and human resource development across sectors.
The second MoU, signed between the Maldives’ Ministry of Tourism and Environment and Singapore’s Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, will pave the way for increased cooperation on environmental sustainability and tourism development, key priorities for both nations.
The third agreement establishes a collaborative framework between Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education and the Maldives’ Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.
This MoU focuses on cooperation in higher education, educational policy, technical and vocational training, and research, strengthening the Maldives' efforts to build a skilled and future-ready workforce.
The signing ceremony highlighted the growing ties between the Maldives and Singapore, and the shared commitment of both countries to sustainable development, educational advancement, and institutional growth.
