Maldives to compete in Asian Youth Chess Championship

The Maldivian youth chess team has left for Indonesia to compete in Asia's biggest chess tournament, the Asian Youth Championship.

The Maldivian youth chess team has left for Indonesia to compete in the biggest chess tournament in Asia, the Asian Youth Championship.

The tournament is divided into seven age groups with a total seven plays join from the Maldives. Five male and two female will compete in the tournament. The participants comprises of three of the National Youth and Junior Chess Tournament winners from the Maldives Chess Association last September. 

The participants representing the Maldives in the tournament are:

* Mary Enal Muawiyah

* Mohammed Yuan Yaksan

* Mohammed Luth Ismail

* Yoosuf Vaseem Ahmed

* Asil Ibrahim Rasheed

* Aishath Sarah

* Ahmed Khalif

A total of 19 countries, including the Maldives, will compete in the tournament. 

The tournament will be held from October 13 to 22. The tournament is supported by the Indonesian Chess Federation.

The Maldivian team has been practicing for the tournament at a very early stage.  The tournament will be held in Bali, Indonesia and has been receiving a lot of appreciation every year.
