President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has received the Letter of Credence from Namibia’s newly appointed High Commissioner to the Maldives, Alex L. Tukuhupwele, as both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

The credentials were presented during a ceremony held at the President’s Office, where the High Commissioner was escorted in the traditional Haiykolhu cultural procession accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

President Dr. Muizzu formally accepted the Letter of Credence and welcomed Tukuhupwele as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia to the Maldives.

Following the ceremony, the President and the High Commissioner held discussions on areas of mutual interest, including tourism development, trade and investment opportunities, fisheries cooperation, healthcare, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the two nations.

Both sides highlighted the importance of expanding collaboration across key sectors and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.

The Maldives and Namibia established diplomatic relations on July 26, 1990. Since then, the two countries have continued to explore opportunities for cooperation in areas that support sustainable development and mutual growth.
