China donates sports equipment to support Maldives' sports development

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness has received a donation of sports equipment from the People's Republic of China, further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of sports development and youth empowerment.

A handover ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Iruthisham Adam, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness Abdulla Rafiu, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua, along with senior government officials, representatives of the Chinese Embassy, and other invited guests.

During the ceremony, Minister Rafiu and Ambassador Kong Xianhua signed a document of acknowledgment, officially marking the transfer of the donated sports equipment to the Maldivian government.

The donation is expected to support the ministry's ongoing efforts to strengthen sports development by improving access to equipment for athletes, sports programs, and training initiatives.

It also reflects the growing cooperation between the Maldives and China in promoting sports and youth-focused initiatives.

The handover highlights the continued expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries, with both sides maintaining collaboration across a range of sectors, including sports, education, infrastructure, and human resource development.

The latest contribution further reinforces the partnership and the shared commitment to supporting the advancement of sports in the Maldives.
