Ambassador holds talks with JATA to boost Japanese visitor arrivals
Maldives has stepped up efforts to attract more visitors from Japan following discussions between Maldivian Ambassador to Japan Ahmed Mahloof and Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) President Kuniharu Ebina.
The meeting focused on strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries, with discussions centered on increasing Japanese tourist arrivals, expanding the promotion of the Maldives in the Japanese market, and fostering closer collaboration between travel agencies in both nations.
Had a productive discussion with Mr. Kuniharu Ebina, President of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), on strengthening tourism ties between the Maldives and Japan.

Ambassador Mahloof said the discussions also explored JATA's role in supporting promotional efforts aimed at raising the Maldives' profile among Japanese travelers while encouraging stronger partnerships between travel industry stakeholders in both countries.
We discussed JATA’s support in increasing Japanese tourist arrivals to the Maldives, strengthening the promotion of the Maldives in the Japanese market, and building closer connections between travel agents in both countries.

The engagement forms part of the Maldivian government's broader strategy to diversify its tourism industry by expanding its presence in markets that currently contribute relatively fewer visitors.
Officials have been working to strengthen international partnerships and increase tourism promotion in emerging and underrepresented source markets as part of efforts to support long-term growth in the sector.
