Maldives has pledged an annual contribution of USD 50,000 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) during this year’s UNRWA Pledging Conference held at the United Nations Headquarters.

The pledge was announced by the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, during the conference.

The government said the contribution reflects the Maldives’ continued support for Palestinian refugees and for the humanitarian work carried out by UNRWA.

Maldives also called on the international community to provide consistent financial support to help the agency continue its operations and fulfill its mandate.

During the conference, the Maldives highlighted the challenges facing UNRWA and expressed support for the agency’s efforts to provide essential services to Palestinian refugees.

The government also reaffirmed its solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The Maldives previously made the same annual pledge of USD 50,000 to UNRWA in 2024, continuing its financial support for the agency’s humanitarian work.
