Maldivian, the national airline, has dismissed circulating social media claims alleging that it plans to introduce alcohol service on its flights, describing the information as entirely false.

The rumours suggested that the airline was preparing to serve and sell alcohol in connection with its upcoming flight operations to Australia, which are scheduled to commence this May.

The social media posts further claimed that cabin crew recruits were informed that serving alcohol would be a mandatory requirement.

It was also alleged that staff who declined would be allowed to opt out but would lose the opportunity to work on international routes.

In response, Maldivian rejected the claims, urging the public to avoid sharing unverified and misleading information.

The airline emphasised that the circulating reports have no basis in fact.
