President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will undertake a state visit to Sri Lanka from 3 to 6 May 2026, according to a statement issued by the President’s Office.

The visit follows an official invitation from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

During the trip, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet senior Sri Lankan officials and hold bilateral talks with President Dissanayake, aimed at strengthening the longstanding ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

According to the President’s Office, the two leaders will also witness the exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) across various sectors of cooperation.

President Muizzu will be accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, along with a delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials.

The President’s Office further noted that the visit reflects President Muizzu’s continued commitment to enhancing relations with countries contributing to the Maldives’ development.

It also follows President Dissanayake’s visit to the Maldives in July last year, which marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
