Four veterans honored for lifetime contributions to Maldives Tourism
Hotelier Maldives has honored four veteran tourism professionals with its Dedicated Service Awards at the Hotelier Maldives Awards 2026, held on 26 April at NIVA at Kurumba Maldives.
Now in its third edition, the annual awards presented by Bestbuy Maldives, remain the only national platform recognizing the contributions of resort employees across the Maldives.
In addition to 35 competitive awards, the Dedicated Service Awards are presented as a special honor to individuals who have made long-term contributions to the tourism industry.
This year’s recipients were Adam Saeed of Bandos Maldives, Mohamed Waheed of Equator Village, Mohamed Naeem of Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, and Abdul Samad Ibrahim of Club Med Kani.
Editor of Hotelier Maldives, Ali Naafiz, said the awards aim to recognise individuals whose dedication has helped shape the country’s tourism sector over many years.
Adam Saeed was acknowledged for over three decades of service in human resources, playing a key role in workforce management, compliance and administrative continuity at Bandos Maldives.
Mohamed Waheed, Resort Manager at Equator Village, was recognized for a career spanning nearly 40 years.
Having started in the 1980s, he progressed through operational roles and now contributes to both resort management and community engagement in Addu.
Mohamed Naeem, who retired in 2025 as Deputy General Manager of Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, was honored for his long-standing contribution to resort operations and staff development.
His career coincided with key developments in sustainability and workplace practices within the industry.
Abdul Samad Ibrahim, currently General Affairs Manager at Club Med Kani, was recognized for more than four decades of continuous service.
His career has been closely tied to the growth of the Club Med brand in the Maldives, earning him multiple recognitions over the years.
Hotelier Maldives stated that the Dedicated Service Awards reflect its commitment to highlighting individuals whose sustained efforts have supported the growth and resilience of the tourism industry.
