Falah rejects claims of Nazim losing Deputy Speaker role
Parliamentary Group Leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC), Ibrahim Falah, has dismissed reports suggesting that Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim is facing removal from his post in the Parliament.
Speculation over Nazim’s position emerged following his recent removal from two of Parliament’s most influential oversight bodies the Public Accounts Committee and the Security Services Committee (241 Committee).
The development prompted widespread claims that the ruling party had initiated internal efforts to unseat him as Deputy Speaker.
Although Falah was unavailable for direct comment, he clarified to other media outlets that such reports were “completely baseless and false,” firmly rejecting suggestions of any move by the PNC to remove Nazim from the post.
Despite the denial, it has been confirmed that Nazim has been relieved of his roles in both the Public Accounts Committee and the Security Services Committee.
Addressing the changes, Nazim stated that his departure from the committees was due to time constraints, noting that frequent travel abroad for both official duties and personal matters had limited his ability to actively participate in their work.
