Private jet arrivals to Maldives surge by 125%: Tourism Minister
Private jet arrivals to the Maldives have recorded a sharp increase, reflecting growing momentum in the country’s high-end tourism segment, according to Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen.
Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office, Ameen highlighted a significant rise in private jet traffic, noting that 84 jets arrived in March 2025 compared to 189 in March 2026 an increase of 125 percent.
April figures also showed strong growth, with 64 private jets recorded in 2025, rising to 93 so far this year, marking a 45.3 percent increase.
Despite ongoing global uncertainties, the minister said the Maldives’ tourism sector continues to demonstrate resilience.
He noted that average daily tourist arrivals stood at 7,085 last year, while the current figure is 6,855, reflecting a marginal decline of only 3.2 percent.
However, recent trends indicate a recovery.
Over the past week, tourist arrivals increased by 2.2 percent, with 35,653 visitors recorded.
Ameen attributed this rebound to the resumption and expansion of international flight operations following earlier disruptions.
Several airlines, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad Airways, have resumed services, while Flydubai and Air Arabia have also restarted operations.
