Maldives eyes international legal action on Chagos sovereignty

The Government of Maldives is preparing to pursue international legal avenues to assert its claim over the Chagos Archipelago, amid ongoing developments surrounding the proposed agreement between the United Kingdom and Mauritius.

In a statement, the President’s Office confirmed that the Maldives has formally conveyed to the UK that it does not recognise the proposed transfer of the islands to Mauritius.
