The United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advisory for British tourists heading to the Maldives, citing escalating Middle East tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel that are severely disrupting global air travel.

Recent regional conflicts have triggered widespread airspace closures, causing flight cancellations, delays, and rerouting across international routes  even for journeys not directly transiting the Middle East.

These issues are directly impacting travel to and from the Maldives, with many connecting flights affected by the chaos.

British nationals have been advised on clear guidance to check airline and tour operator updates before departure, review travel insurance coverage, monitor media outlets, and subscribe to FCDO email alerts for real-time advice.

Those already in the Maldives should contact airlines directly for the latest schedules.

The FCDO emphasized that large numbers of Middle East-transiting flights remain grounded or diverted, potentially stranding passengers and complicating return trips from popular resort destinations.
