Passengers to Middle East urged to check flight status before arriving at VIA
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has issued a travel advisory for passengers planning to travel to Middle Eastern destinations, following the temporary closure of airspace over several countries in the region.
In a notice released on 28 February 2026 at Velana International Airport, MACL urged travellers bound for the Middle East to closely monitor updates from their respective airlines and tour operators before proceeding to the airport.
Passengers have been strongly encouraged to verify the status of their flights directly through official airline websites or mobile applications prior to departure for the airport.
In addition, travellers are advised to contact their tour operators for the latest guidance, including information on possible rebookings or schedule changes.
MACL further recommended allowing additional time to make any necessary adjustments to travel arrangements, as flight schedules may continue to be affected by the evolving situation.
For real-time flight updates, passengers have been directed to visit fis.com.mv.
MACL reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining uninterrupted and efficient services at Velana International Airport during this period and expressed appreciation for the patience, understanding, and cooperation of passengers amid the ongoing disruptions.
