The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned Israel’s decision to convert lands in the occupied West Bank into what it described as “state property,” calling the move a serious breach of international law.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Foreign Ministry said the decision represents a continuation of illegal settlement policies that undermine the rights of the Palestinian people and further destabilize the region.

The Ministry stressed that such unilateral actions constitute a clear violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

It warned that the move threatens the prospects for achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

Calling for urgent international intervention, the Maldives urged the global community to take concrete measures to halt what it described as unlawful practices and to ensure accountability.

Reaffirming its longstanding position, the Maldives reiterated its unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination.

The statement also underscored the country’s firm commitment to the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine.

The Maldives has consistently voiced support for the Palestinian cause in international forums, advocating for a two-state solution based on relevant United Nations resolutions and international law.
