Anti-Drug operation: Police search 10 locations, arrest four
The Maldives Police Service has conducted searches at 10 locations in Malé City and Gaafu Alifu Atoll under Operation Alimagu, a large-scale operation aimed at dismantling drug trafficking and money laundering networks.
Police confirmed that four suspects have been apprehended so far as part of the operation, which began this morning.
According to updated information released by authorities, the searches are targeting properties linked to individuals suspected of being involved in large-scale narcotics distribution and illicit financial activities in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
The police stated that further searches are ongoing and assured that all necessary legal measures will be taken to ensure strict enforcement of the law.
Operation Alimagu is being carried out through the coordinated efforts of special units from the South Police Division, the Intelligence Department, and the Drug Enforcement Wing.
Providing broader updates during a press conference on December 24, Head of Counter Narcotics Operations, Chief Inspector of Police Fathih Mohamed, said that between November 13 and December 20, 2025, authorities searched 166 locations across 39 islands nationwide as part of the operation.
He further revealed that a total of 193 individuals have been arrested so far, including 186 men and seven women.
During the crackdown, police also searched nine vehicles and one sea vessel.
These operations led to the seizure of 182 items of alcohol and 30.63 kilograms of narcotics.
Additionally, 71 cases have been registered in connection with the operation, with 34 cases already forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office for prosecution.
