The Urban Primary Health Care Centre in Malé’s Maafannu ward has introduced an expanded range of child health services, further advancing the government’s efforts to make essential healthcare more accessible to city residents.

Opened on 19 November 2025 as the first facility of its kind in the capital, the centre has steadily broadened its programmes to support preventive care and early childhood wellbeing.

The newly available services include routine growth monitoring, immunisation, vitamin A supplementation, and deworming.

Vitamin A and deworming clinics operate Tuesday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., while growth monitoring sessions are held every Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Vaccinations are provided on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the same morning hours as vitamin services.

Parents can also access counselling on infant and young-child feeding practices, and travel vaccinations are available by appointment.

In addition to general practitioner and specialist services, the centre functions as a key platform for national disease-prevention initiatives and health-promotion programmes marking a meaningful step toward comprehensive, community-based care for families in Malé.
