Ministry launches job-matching program under mass legalization drive for expats
The Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology has announced plans to compile a national registry of expatriates working in the Maldives, as part of ongoing efforts to regularise undocumented and irregular migrant workers.
The initiative is being implemented under the government’s Mass Legalization Program, conducted through Operation Kurangi.
According to the Ministry, the program targets expatriates working without valid permits, those with expired documentation, and individuals residing without proper identification.
As part of the program, authorities will also introduce a job-matching service to help eligible expatriates secure employment through registered and compliant employers.
The Ministry said the registry will serve as a channel to connect workers seeking legal employment with businesses experiencing labour shortages.
Expatriates who have already completed biometric registration under Operation Kurangi but currently do not have an employer have been requested to fill out and submit the designated application form within the stated timeframe.
The form is available online at the link provided by the Ministry.
The Ministry further noted that employers requiring expatriate workers may request assistance through the newly created registry, with the Ministry facilitating recruitment arrangements where appropriate.
