Cyclone "Ditwah" to bring rain to Central and Southern Maldives as it moves away: MET
The Maldives Meteorological Service has announced that Tropical Cyclone Ditwah will bring scattered rain and thunderstorms to the central and southern atolls over the next 24 hours, despite the system moving away from the country.
In an update shared on X, the MET Office released a satellite image and projected cyclone track showing the storm positioned over Sri Lanka’s northern coastal region, approximately 876 kilometres northeast of HA. Kelaa.
The cyclone, which developed in the Bay of Bengal, is now travelling in a north–northwest direction toward India’s Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh coastlines.
According to the MET Office, a White Alert has been issued as the system remains within the Maldives’ monitoring area.
While the cyclone itself does not pose a direct threat to the Maldives, its outer bands are expected to produce brief showers and isolated thunderstorms across the central and southern parts of the country.
Weather conditions are projected to gradually improve starting Tuesday, 2 December.
The MET Office urged the public to remain aware of changing conditions as the system continues to evolve.
