Maldivian to Resume Flights to Dhaka After Yearlong Suspension
Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has announced plans to resume scheduled flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh, reinstating a route that was suspended last year amid political instability in the Bangladeshi capital.
To facilitate the relaunch, the airline has invited applications for a General Passenger Sales Agent (GSA) in Bangladesh, with proposals due by 6 November, according to the announcement.
The Dhaka route is not new for Maldivian.
The carrier had previously operated weekly services to the Bangladeshi capital until August 2024, when operations were halted due to unrest in the country.
At the time, the airline described the route as a strategically important link connecting the two South Asian nations.
The decision to restore the service comes as Maldivian continues to operate a focused international network, currently serving five destinations across India and China its two primary overseas markets. In addition to scheduled routes, the airline also offers seasonal services to select destinations during holiday periods and peak travel seasons.
