Early diagnosis and accessible treatment crucial for breast cancer: First Lady
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has underscored the importance of ensuring that every citizen has access to early diagnosis and effective treatment for breast cancer, highlighting the critical role of awareness and support in improving patient outcomes.
Speaking at the inauguration of the “Breast Cancer Awareness Symposium” held today, the First Lady said breast cancer patients face uniquely challenging experiences that deeply impact their lives and those around them.
She commended the resilience of women undergoing breast cancer treatment and the strength of their families, describing them as sources of courage and inspiration for others.
She expressed that their determination drives improvements in cancer care, strengthens early detection efforts, and contributes to advancing the quality of treatment available.
First Lady Sajidha stressed that no woman should have to face breast cancer alone, and called for greater efforts to make both early detection and quality treatment accessible nationwide.
She also encouraged women over the age of 40 to undergo regular screenings, including annual mammograms, and to remain vigilant about signs and symptoms of the disease.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Symposium brings together healthcare professionals, cancer survivors, and researchers to discuss strengthening treatment systems, advancing comprehensive care, identifying disease causes, and exploring the latest innovations in breast cancer management.
This year’s event is held under the theme, “Every Patient’s Story is Unique; Every Patient’s Journey Matters.”
