The Maldives and Azerbaijan have formalised an agreement granting mutual visa-free entry for ordinary passport holders, allowing stays of up to 90 days.

The pact was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel on behalf of the Maldives and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jayhun Bayramov.

The signing took place in New York, ahead of their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the arrangement builds on the existing unilateral visa waivers previously extended by both nations.

It also follows a 2024 agreement exempting Maldivian holders of Diplomatic and Official passports from visa requirements for a 90-day period.

The Ministry noted that the latest development reflects the growing cooperation and strengthened people-to-people ties between the Maldives and Azerbaijan.
