Fuhgiri case: Opposition leader and Former President Yameen's hearing scheduled for today

The Criminal Court has scheduled a hearing against the Opposition Leader and Former President Yameen over the lease of Raa Atoll Fuhgiri for resort development. 

The hearing is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 10 am. 

According to Criminal Court, the hearing will be held online. 

Opposition leader and Former President Yameen is being charged with bribery and money laundering over the lease of the island. The plaintiff has claimed the Former President for accepted a bribe of USD 1,117,000 over the leasing of Fuhgiri and has claimed Krik Riza for helping to funnel the money through Sun Construction & Engineering Pvt. Ltd. and Sun Investments Pvt. Ltd.

In addition to Yameen, Kurikilahiya Ahmed Creek Riza and Sun Construction are also being charged in this case. 

The Opposition Leader and Former President Yameen have been recently sentenced to 11 years over the lease of Vaavu Atoll Aarah and are currently serving his sentence in Kaafu Maafushi jail.
