The Maldives 2.0 Digital Transformation Summit has officially concluded last night, marking a significant step forward in the government’s ambitious plans to revolutionize public service delivery through digital innovation.

The three-day summit, held under the banner of Maldives 2.0, brought together key stakeholders and government institutions to align efforts on a nationwide digital transformation initiative launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The programme aims to drive rapid, reformist changes in the country’s digital landscape, with a strong focus on providing fast, secure, and transparent services to the public.

Designed to reshape the way state institutions deliver services to citizens, the Maldives 2.0 project seeks to harness technology to introduce smarter governance practices.

Over the next three years, the government expects to roll out transformative digital tools across the country, creating a more connected and efficient administration.

Among the summit's core discussions were enhancing cybersecurity, enabling secure digital transactions via internationally recognized digital ID systems, and establishing a robust data exchange framework to ensure seamless and secure information sharing between institutions.

Participants also explored the development of a sovereign cloud infrastructure to securely store and archive government data, and emphasized the importance of delivering citizen-centric services through digital platforms.

Additional areas of focus included nurturing a digitally literate generation and expanding opportunities in the ICT sector for Maldivians and local businesses.

The event concluded with a presentation on the summit’s key outcomes.

In a symbolic gesture, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, formally presented the National Digital Commitment to President Dr. Muizzu, reaffirming the government's dedication to building a digitally empowered Maldives.
