Raudh Ahmed Zilal, 21, has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into a 21-year-old woman who was discovered injured on the rooftop of a warehouse in Malé in the early hours of Friday, April 18.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen announced during a press briefing that Raudh was taken into custody again due to a lack of cooperation with the investigative review team.
As of last night, our findings indicate discrepancies and a lack of corroboration from Raudh's side. Consequently, we sought and obtained a court order for his re-arrest,
DCP Naveen stated
According to a police statement, Raudh was arrested at 6:20 p.m. today.
This marks the second time he has been taken into custody in relation to the case.
He was previously detained, questioned, and later released after testing positive for drugs.
The case involves eight people, five men and three women, who met at a house in central Malé around 12:30 a.m. on April 18.
Four of them, including Raudh and the injured woman, later visited a second home on Ameenee Magu briefly, before Raudh and the woman were seen entering an unrelated property to them, H. Fentenoy, on Buruzu Magu.
She is believed to have fallen from the rooftop between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m.
The incident has sparked public concern and criticism, particularly over the lack of immediate arrests and limited transparency in the investigation.
Many have voiced frustration over how the case has been handled, pressing authorities for clearer communication and timely action.
The investigation remains ongoing.
