From a protests held in Maldives to ban Israel passport

The Maldives has officially banned the entry of Israeli passport holders following the ratification of the Third Amendment to the Maldives Immigration Act (Law No. 01/2007) by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The decision follows the amendment's approval by the People’s Majlis during its 20th sitting of the first session held on April 15, 2025.

The newly ratified provision clearly prohibits individuals holding Israeli passports from entering Maldivian territory.

This legislative move underscores the Government’s strong stance against ongoing atrocities and acts of genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people.

In a statement accompanying the ratification, the Government reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to defending the rights of Palestinians.

Maldives also reiterated its call for accountability for violations of international law and pledged to continue raising its voice in global forums to condemn Israeli actions.

President Dr Muizzu has repeatedly expressed the Maldives' principled support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine within pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with relevant United Nations resolutions and international law.
