Maldives has welcomed MSC Magnifica, a major cruise liner that completed one of the longest voyages to the country to date. The vessel departed from Fremantle-Perth, Australia, on March 27 and arrived in Malé on April 3, 2025, bringing with it 2,818 individuals, including 1,866 passengers and 952 crew members.

According to Maldives Immigration, MSC Magnifica was granted en-route clearance by the Seaport Division, marking the longest journey processed under its clearance service.

The cruise liner made its way from the Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean before docking in Malé.

In a post on social media platform X, the Maldives Immigration highlighted the milestone, stating:

Seaport Division's En-Route Clearance Service for MSC Magnifica: Departed from Fremantle-Perth, Australia on 27th Mar 2025 and arrived in Malé, Maldives on 3rd April 2025. With 1,866 passengers and 952 crew members, this marks the longest trip for Seaport en-route clearance, crossing from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean.

Maldives remains a highly sought-after destination for international cruise liners.

Just last month, the MS Crystal Symphony — a cruise ship that travels globally — made its second visit to the Maldives.

With the arrival of MSC Magnifica, a total of eight cruise liners have docked in the country this year.

Cruise arrivals to the Maldives peaked around the New Year, with over 5,000 passengers cleared by immigration authorities during that period.

The cruise liner segment continues to be an important and growing market for the Maldivian tourism industry.
