The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives has strongly condemned recent proposals to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza, reaffirming its commitment to a two-state solution as the only viable path to peace in the Middle East.

In a statement, He Fen, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives, criticized suggestions to “take control” of Gaza and relocate its population, arguing that such plans violate international law, trample on Palestinian rights, and threaten regional stability.

Gaza is the homeland of the Palestinian people and an inseparable part of Palestinian territory. It is not a bargaining chip in political negotiations, nor should it become a victim of the law of the jungle

She stated

Highlighting the devastating toll of the ongoing conflict, she noted that nearly 50,000 people in Gaza have been killed, with 70% of the casualties being women and children.

She urged the international community, particularly major powers, to prioritize humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts rather than exacerbating the crisis.

“At this moment, the international community, especially major powers, should work together to provide humanitarian aid and support for reconstruction in Gaza, rather than adding insult to injury,

She emphasized

The proposal to “Clean Out” Gaza has drawn widespread global condemnation.

Arab nations have unequivocally rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians, while many European countries have voiced opposition.

Even within the US, critics have labeled the suggestion as “ethnic cleansing by another name” and “the final nail in the coffin of international law.”

Reiterating the Chinese Embassy’s stance, sh.e stressed that the Palestinian question is a matter of international justice and that the two-state solution remains the only feasible resolution.

According to relevant UN Security Council resolutions and international consensus, the fundamental way to resolve the Palestinian question is the implementation of the two-state solution. This means restoring the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, establishing an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, and ensuring their right to statehood, existence, and return

She stated

The Chinese Embassy has consistently supported Palestinian unity and has advocated for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations.

She also acknowledged Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s firm stance in defending Palestinian rights, highlighting the embassy’s willingness to collaborate with the Maldives and the broader international community to advance peace efforts.

China is willing to work with the international community, including the Maldives, to promote an end to the fighting and bring the Palestinian question back onto the right track of the two-state solution

She noted

As 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of both the UN’s founding and the victory in the anti-fascist war, she reaffirmed the Chinese Embassy’s commitment to upholding fairness, justice, and global stability.

As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a responsible major power, China will always stand on the side of peace and human conscience on the Palestinian question

she stated,

adding that China will continue to promote the two-state solution and facilitate lasting peace in the region.

The statement comes after US President Donald Trump, during a joint appearance with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, suggested that the US should “take over” and “own” Gaza, hoping that Palestinians would relocate to other countries, a proposal widely condemned as forced displacement.
